I illustrated this poster art to commemorate the greatest rap group of all time coming to the Chicago House of Blues, the one and only ROOTS! I created a concept that illustrates the bands "realness" by inserting the mic chord into the wrist veins. The four corner designs represent the 4 elements of hip hop: turntable dj's, break-dancing, graffiti, and rhyming.

Roots: hip hop band poster illustration design

Rap CD graphic designer cd wallet design stimulus package
I designed this cd wallet art for a hip hop artist named Scoot- he was looking for a graphic designer that could help him develop an image of himself as a pseudo presidential rapper/politician. His album release comes on the heels of the economic stimulus package that congress passed, and he was playing off of that- as in his album being a stimulus package for the hip hop industry. Needless to say- I gave him the presidential treatment.
I composed the cover design by combining a collection of photo's including the state capital, crowd, clouds, lights, and textures. These were all seprate elements that I combined to create this scenery. I adjusted the colors to give it all a cohesive look and overlaid a few textures and photoshop effects to bring it all together. I also created the presidential logo for the artist which is underneath the disc and is exposed when the disc is removed. He was very happy with the final design.

Hip Hop CD Design- Ghetto Gangsta Rap CD cover design- Downbottom

This design was for a hip hop cd release where the artist wanted a movie like design per his narrative music. I designed a text box shaped like a bullet to enclose the "Volume One" text. And chose a script font on the lower half to convey the feeling of authenticity and "personal story". The city scape conveys the setting of the stories- where they take place and where he's coming from. Fernando Medina.

Hip Hop CD Album Cover design- Buried Treasure Rap Compilation
This is the cover art for a hip-hop compilation album. The client said they really wanted to accentuate the 2.0 so I dropped it on the cover like giant bricks- can't get more prominent than that. I grunged up the letters a bit to give them a worn out look- like it's been through the test of time and it's still big and bold. I then added the shovel on the side to compliment the words "buried treasure". I used a little bit of adobe illustrator and photoshop to complete this work. Enjoy.

Hip Hop CD cover design- Rap cd design- Bmac cover art

Hip Hop in the Hizzy my Nizzy. This rapper went from zero to hero with the Nando-matic Insta-Design 3000. This is an album cover for a southern hip hop artist. The client wasn't sure which picture he wanted for the cover so I composed two different versions. You can see the original photo's I was supplied with and then I enhanced them through the magic of photoshop. You can click the cover designs to enlarge the view.
